Our Hygienist Debra is a registered Oral Health Therapist. She graduated from Auckland University of Technology in 2010. She relocated to Hawke’s Bay in 2013 and has been working at Dentiq since 2018. Debra lives on a lifestyle property as she enjoys the country lifestyle. Debra loves gardening, taking her dogs for walks and travelling. At Dentiq she loves educating our clients about the importance of Dental Health and being a part of their oral health Journey. She believes that oral health plays a vital role in overall health.

Bone Grafting for Ridge Preservation

Every time you use your teeth to bite or grind down food, you keep the jawbone strong. The force exerted by these functions is transferred through the teeth roots to the jaw. This process tells the osteoblast cells to build more bony tissue. However, when you lose teeth as the result of the decay or other trauma, there are no roots to transfer the force that is generated by behaviors such as grinding food to the jaw. This results in bone loss (or resorption). Fortunately, our dental office, Dentiq in and around Hawks Bay, Napier, can build up insufficient bone with a graft.

Tooth Extractions

For every 10 people, nine will suffer from complications due to wisdom teeth, according to the AAOMS (the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons). While wisdom teeth represent just one of many types of tooth extractions performed by Dr Sundar, they are among the most common reasons teeth must be removed. During routine visits to the Dentiq office in Napier, Dr Sundar monitors the “lifecycle” of these back teeth. So, developmental problems are detected and addressed early before pain, and other complications arise.

Removable Partial Denture

As a dentist, Dr Sundar practices conservative dentistry. He works closely with patients to preserve their natural teeth. As long as those teeth are healthy or can be restored to health, there is no better tooth than the natural one developed with you. A removable partial denture retains the remaining healthy teeth while replacing the teeth that were lost due to decay, disease, or other trauma. They also replace teeth that can’t be “saved” with root canal therapy, and that may require extraction.
