Bone Grafting for Ridge Preservation

Every time you use your teeth to bite or grind down food, you keep the jawbone strong. The force exerted by these functions is transferred through the teeth roots to the jaw. This process tells the osteoblast cells to build more bony tissue. However, when you lose teeth as the result of the decay or other trauma, there are no roots to transfer the force that is generated by behaviors such as grinding food to the jaw.
